Portfolio to Professoriate, or P2P, is supported by a five-year NSF CAREER grant written by and awarded to Lisa McNair at Virginia Tech. P2P is designed to help students create professional online portfolios while continually engaging in reflective professional practice. The primary purpose of the research component of P2P is to study the potential of portfolios to support integrative identity. Given the large-scale and largely unintentional changes to the faculty workforce (e.g., move to predominantly contingent adjunct appointments, de-professionalization) that have occurred over the last several decades, there is a need for thoughtful and intentional discussion of the potential characteristics of new faculty models.
